About me
Welcome to my corner of the cosmos! I am a Postdoctoral Fellow at Carnegie Observatories, Pasadena, California. My research interest is in extragalactic astronomy.
Our universe hosts trillions of galaxies, and our very own solar system resides within one called the Milky Way.
Galaxies, like pieces of a grand puzzle, shape the vast expanse of space around us. I am fascinated by the question of how these galaxies evolve over time.
The following quote inspires me a lot:
"Look back 100 years, to 1903. How important is it now who was Prime Minister of Great Britain in 1903,
or President of the United States? What stands out as really important is that at McGill University,
Ernest Rutherford and Frederick Soddy were working out the nature of radioactivity.
The understanding of radioactivity allowed physicists to explain how the Sun and Earth's cores could still be hot after millions of years"

Outreach Activities
- Every year, IUCAA celebrates the National Science Day as a grand public outreach event. Thousands of students and the general public attend.
I have presented posters, online talks,
and flash talks
at this event several times.
- School visit-November, 2022 Nainital, India, (Talk and hands-on sessions with school students)
Research
My research primarily focuses on the extended gaseous halos around galaxies, also known as the
circumgalactic medium (CGM), which plays a pivotal role in the evolution of galaxies and their star formation. As an observational astronomer, I use multiband imaging and/or
I use integral field spectroscopy
for finding galaxies from the early universe (at redshifts 3-4), and quasar absorption lines spectroscopy
(utilizing data from instruments such as VLT-UVES and Keck-HIRES) to examine the gaseous environment surrounding these galaxies. By measuring the properties of the absorption lines
and comparing it with the ionisation models, I aim to understand the underlying physics and properties governing the evolution of galaxies.
